What is the JOI Acute Injury Fracture Service?
Even when you are quarantined at your house, Injuries happen! Many people have their kids at home now doing virtual school. There are more opportunities for toys, backpacks, computer cords to be left in unexpected places in your home. There is nothing quite like stepping barefoot on a lego piece left on the floor…#%@!!
But, what if you slip or fall while you are quarantined or you hear something pop in your knee? What if you teenager decides to set up a skateboard obstacle course in your kitchen and wipes out? What if your spouse decides that the quarantine is a good time to finish those home painting projects and takes a spill off of a ladder?
AHHH, THAT QUARANTINED LIFE!!!
Fortunately, the Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute is still here to take care of all of your injuries….Even the Quarantine mishaps! That’s why we offer the Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute Injury/Fracture Service.

If you have a quarantine mishap, the Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute Injury/Fracture Service Is here to help. Here’s how it works…
- Call JOI-2000 to set up an ASAP appointment in a safe, clean, convenient environment.
- You may be seen at our San Marco, South, or Beaches physician offices.
- Hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday thru Friday.
- You may request a telemedicine appointment if preferred.
Should I use the JOI Injury/Fracture Service OR Emergency Room?
The Jacksonville Orthopedic Institute Injury/Fracture Service includes Orthopedic Doctors and Sports Medicine and Injury Specialists. JOI has the tools and training to handle most injuries/fractures in our offices during ASAP appointments.
But, if your injury involved severe trauma or is an obvious open fracture injury, the Emergency Department is the best choice.
What Other Options Does JOI offer During this Crisis?

While we now offer the Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute Injury/Fracture Service, JOI still offers traditional, in-office physician visits. Our Rehabilitation Centers are open to care for your needs and help you complete your road to recovery. Our physical and occupational therapists are ready to help you! If you can’t make it into one of our centers, we will come to your home to get your physical therapy started. Please call 904-858-7045.
We also offer Telemedicine or (E-visit) services with our Doctors and our Therapists. This option allows our patients to connect with their doctor or therapist, even it they are not able to come in to our offices. Telemedicine visits are available by request and they are covered by most insurance companies.
Telehealth visits are performed using a computer, tablet, or smartphone. They allow the Doctor or Therapist to see movements and give clinical instructions to patients who are not able to come to the office. Patients are asked to download the ZOOM app on their device. ZOOM is an easy to use program for teleconferencing. It allows us to see and speak with patients during a virtual medical or therapy visit.
