Located at both our San Marco and South Clinics, the Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute has opened two Spine Centers to provide relief for patients experiencing back or neck pain. At these centers, our experienced Spine Therapists work directly with your Spine Surgeons and Physiatrists to coordinate care and offer the best treatment possible for back and neck pain. Our Spine Centers services include medical lasers, medical massages, and acupuncture.

Treatment is provided and directed by experienced Spine Therapists, who work directly in concert with JOI Spine Surgeons and Physiatrists to coordinate your care.

Spine Centers Services Include:

Treatment will be given and directed by experienced Spine Therapists, who work directly with JOI’s Spine Surgeons and Physiatrists (PMR – Pain Management and Rehabilitation), to coordinate your care while you undergo treatment at JOI Rehab’s Spine Center. You are our priority!

Medical Laser – $20 per visit, per body part

Our specially-trained clinicians offer state-of-the-art deep-penetrating laser therapy. Treatment is typically given in a series, as it creates a change at the cellular level as damaged cells absorb the light’s energy. These cellular changes in mitochondrial activity and cell permeability can result in quicker healing times and decreased pain. These safe, pain-free, and quick treatments are effective for a wide array of orthopaedic conditions, including arthritis, degenerative disc disease, muscle strains, muscle spasm, sciatic pain, tendonitis and other overuse injuries. (Not typically covered by insurance).

Medical Massage – $45 per massage

Our licensed Massage Therapists offer medically directed massage services, including those specifically designed to focus on soft tissue, spine-specific, and sports-related injuries. Acupuncture – $80 per visit

Our certified Acupuncturists offer appropriate treatment to support traditional physical therapy protocols. This treatment can be adjunct to traditional treatment of orthopaedic conditions, such as chronic neck and lower back pain, arthritis, sciatica, and fibromyalgia. We can assist in the treatment of medical conditions, including depression, weight loss, high blood pressure, sinusitis, allergies, and anxiety. (Not typically covered by insurance)

Renan Abagat, DPT

Renan Abagat has been practicing Physical Therapy since 1991. He has worked in all therapy settings but the bulk of his experience is in outpatient orthopaedics. His special interests include neuromuscular reeducation as an adjunct to manual medicine. Renan works at the JOI Rehab San Marco Physical Therapy Clinic.

Ehren Allen, DPT, COMT

Ehren Allen, DPT, COMT

Ehren Allen is a Senior Physical therapist and Content Writer at the Jacksonville Orthopedic Institute Rehabilitation – San Marco Division. He has been with JOI since 2005. Ehren studied Physical Therapy at the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. Further, he completed a Post-Professional Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the College of Saint Scholastica.

Ehren Allen specializes in the evaluation and treatment of orthopedic and sports issues with an emphasis on spinal rehabilitation. He is a Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist and integrates manual therapy into the treatment of joint and tissue injuries. Further, he specializes in post-concussion rehabilitation. He also specializes in vestibular rehabilitation and has over 20 years of experience as a physical therapist.

Allan Fiesta graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from the University of the City of Manila (Philippines) in 2000. He obtained his transitional doctorate degree in physical therapy with high honors from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (2017) in St. Augustine, Florida. Further, all has worked in various clinical settings which include long-term care, home health, acute care and outpatient settings.

He has been with JOI since 2013 and started working as the spine physical therapist at the JOI South Clinic – Spine Center since 2014. He is a board-certified orthopedic clinical specialist through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS). Further, he is a current member of the Orthopedic Section of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). Allan Fiesta is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (AAOMPT). Further, his area of interest includes the use of manual therapy techniques in the cervical and lumbar spine. He is currently working towards obtaining his manual therapy certification through the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences.

Physical Therapist

Sarah Katsaras graduated from FSU with Bachelor’s of Science in Biology in 1994. Earned Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from University of St. Augustine in 1999. Sarah continues to work as a physical therapist for several years  She opened the JOI Spine Center in 2011 and has been coordinating the Spine Club meetings for 6 years. She also earned her OCS certification in 2011. Sarah currently works at the JOI Rehab San Marco Physical Therapy Clinic.

Jon is a Jacksonville, FL native who attended the Providence School where he also played baseball. Jon was very active in sports growing up. Upon graduating, he began his career path in the Hospitality Industry in which he worked for 13 years. He chose this industry because of his love for people and love for helping and providing a service. After obtaining his A.A. at FCCJ, he moved to Orlando, FL and attended UCF’s Rosen School of Hospitality Management. Upon completing his time at UCF he returned back to Jacksonville, FL and began managing a local restaurant.

Several years after beginning his management path in the industry he decided that he wanted to still serve and help people, but in a different way. He returned to school while continuing to work in the industry and for Baptist Health as a PAS representative. Upon completing his studies he began his career with JOI as a Physical Therapist Assistant. In August of 2012, he accepted the position of Spine Centers Coordinator. In March of 2015, he accepted the position of Sports Center Coordinator. He currently treats patients at our Sports Center location full time.

Chayenne Febus, LMT was born in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Chayenne has been involved with sports in some way his entire life. He played baseball from ages 9 until his freshman year of college. After hurting his knee, he experienced massage for the first time. This experience is what drove him to be an aspiring Licensed Massage Therapist. Chayenne Febus began massage school in 2008 at Florida College of Natural Health. He completed his studies, graduated and became licensed in 2010. Chayenne’s focus has been medical massage to treat others the way he was treated when he was hurt. He moved to Jacksonville, FL to pursue medical massage in the sports field and has been with JOI Rehab at our JOI Rehab San Marco location since February 2022.

Aisha George, LMT

Aisha, took a love for massage at a very young age. She started as young as 8 years old, rubbing on her parents’ aching feet and walking on their sore backs, to help relieve them of discomfort. She continued to exercise her healing touch throughout High School, as an athlete, there were always team members in need of soft tissue mobilization. It was destiny for her to continue her love for her massage after she graduated high school.

Licensed since 2004, she has continued to practice her endearment for helping people throughout their healing journey and she is always eager to learn new modalities. Currently a Licensed Massage Therapist and a Certified Medical Massage Practitioner. In her spare time, she likes to wire wrap crystals and gemstones to make beautiful jewelry to which she also holds a certification in Crystal Healing Therapy. Born a genuine humanitarian, she feels as if it’s her natural birth right to be a part of helping humanity heal. 

Mandy Hammock, JOI Massage Therapist

Mandy Hammock, LMT

Licensed Massage Therapist (Southeastern School of Neuromuscular Massage Therapy, 2008)

Mandy is a native of Georgia, and a licensed Massage Therapist. She moved to Jacksonville to study massage therapy in 2008. Mandy was always an athlete throughout adolescence, and as a young adult. After several injuries and a major back surgery, she was still enduring chronic daily pain.

Mandy turned to massage therapy to relieve the pain and had a much better quality of life. Mandy knew she wanted to pursue a career involving structural body work in order to help others. She graduated from Southeastern School of Neuromuscular Massage Therapy in 2008. Since, Mandy has worked in many different types of settings, and provided different types of therapy. However, she has found that providing pain relief has been the most rewarding.
