Exercises in Your Hotel Room

Planning a vacation is all about being in the right location for fun and enjoyment. It’s not necessarily about a hotel with state of the art work-out room. But even if there is no gym, your workout does not need to suffer. You can still get a five-star workout in your one-star hotel room.

Hotel Room Exercises

  • Body Weight Squats (20 reps) utilize almost every muscle in the lower body and core.

  • Push-Ups (10 reps) Traditional pushups are beneficial for building upper body strength. When done with proper form, they can also strengthen the lower back and core by engaging the abdominal muscles.

  • Jumping Jacks (10 reps) balance out your heart rate, increases blood circulation all over the body, controls and maintains blood pressure, helps in doing away with bad cholesterol levels in the body, prevents the onset of stroke or heart attacks.

  • Planks (20 second hold) require your arms, your legs, and all of your abs, making them an all-encompassing workout and a more efficient way to exercise.

  • Burpees (5 reps) focus on a full-body workout that aims to build muscle strength and endurance in both your lower and upper body.

Hotel Pool Exercises

Does your hotel have a pool? Swimming laps builds endurance, muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen and bring a towel. Added bonus, you don’t have to get sweaty! 

Walking for Exercise at Hotel

Maybe you are lucky enough to be staying in a hotel room with a beautiful view of the beach and ocean. Don’t just enjoy the view, get out there and utilize the environment you are visiting. Walking on the sand challenges the feet’s stabilizing muscles and the waves crashing against the shoreline provide a relaxing change of pace compared to the monotony of the treadmill. Just be sure to get all of the sand out of your shoes before heading back into your hotel room!

While these exercises can be done at any time, waking up early and beginning the day with a quick workout means you can enjoy the rest of each vacation day with uninterrupted relaxation.

For those who need other people around them or like having someone tell them what to do, group workout classes such as yoga, HIIT, and water aerobics are often made available at resort style hotels. When you check in, be sure to ask someone about availability and how to sign up.
