What is a Stem Cell?

What are Adult Stem Cells?
Adult stem cells are early stage cells that are capable of developing into other types of cells and hold the potential to regenerate damaged tissues under the right conditions.
What can Stem Cell Therapy treat?
Autologous Adult Stem Cells (ASCS) are found in the adult human body tissues such as bone marrow and fat. These stem cells differ from Embryonic Stem Cells (ESCs) in that they are not donated from in vitro fertilizations, but harvested from the body of the patient being treated. Therefore infection risk is not as high and it does not raise some of the ethical concerns there may from harvesting cells from in vitro fertilizations. ASCS can be used to treat many different types of chronic and/or degenerative conditions such as:

Does insurance cover Stem Cell Therapy?
Although stem cell therapy has been successfully used for some time now, the practice of using them in orthopedic procedure is new. Typically insurance will not cover stem cell therapy for this reason. Cost of stem cell therapy may vary based on procedure.
