In the world of rehabilitation, there has always been a need for a facility that could bridge the gap for patients between Physical Therapy and the return to sport or recreational activity. The goal for Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute Rehabilitation’s Sports Center, located at our San Marco office, is to meet this demand while establishing a premier facility that both patients and athletes can utilize in order to return to their sport.
The Sports Center at the Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute offers services to treat sports injury, identify sport deficits, and enhance sport performance. These services are focused on functional, dynamic, and plyometric strengthening as well as return to sport-specific or recreational activities. Our orthopedic physicians work alongside our sports medicine team to coordinate a plan of care to best suit our patient’s needs whether they need to relieve sports injuries or increase sports performance.

Treatment at JOI’s Sports Center is given and directed by our experienced Sports Medicine Team. Our team is able to work directly with your physician and/or coach to coordinate your plan and progress.
You are our priority! Some conditions and services that the Sports Center treats and offers include:
Our state-of-the-art facility allows us to focus on getting you back to your prior level of function. At JOI Rehab’s Sports Center, our experienced Sports Medicine Team is able to work with your physician and/or coach; focusing on dynamic strength, plyometric strength, agility, and sport-specific strengthening. This helps to bridge the gap between traditional physical therapy services and return to sport, allowing for a seamless transition back to the game field.
Our experienced Sports Medicine Team is able to analyze biomechanical movements such as throwing, tennis, pitching or running movements. Through observation and the use of Biomechanics Analysis software, we are able to determine biomechanical deficits. We then address these deficits with functional interventions in order to reduce the risk of injury or re-injury.
A concussion is a traumatic brain injury from a bump or blows to the head causing the brain to move rapidly back and forth. Concussions can affect individuals of all ages and can occur during sports, recreational activities, and accidents. However, for young athletes, concussions can prevent them from playing in their sport until they are cleared for activity. Our Sports Medicine Team works alongside leaders in concussion management to make an assessment of the patient and determine which interventions are specifically needed to restore normal function and be able to return to play.
Our Tennis Management and Performance Services at the Sports Center are provided by our trained Sports Medicine Team that works with your coach, physician or professional to coordinate care. Tennis Management and Performance Services are focused on reducing the risk of injury, return to play after an injury, and decreasing performance deficits limiting the ability to play tennis at an optimal level.
