Frozen Shoulder, or Adhesive Capsulitis, is a condition when the shoulder becomes stiff. It may also be painful. Dr. Kamal Bohsali says that experts cannot give the exact cause. A Frozen Shoulder may also happen for no apparent reason. Frozen shoulder may also occur on both sides. Women tend to have Frozen Shoulder more often the men. Diabetes may increase the risk of Frozen Shoulder.

How Long Does it Take for a Frozen Shoulder to Heal?
Frozen Shoulder can take a few months to a few years to heal. It typically heals faster with physical therapy. Frozen shoulder is an inflammatory condition. Physical therapy typically requires aggressive stretching and range of motion activities. However, therapy should not be excruciating. Medications may be used to decrease pain with Frozen Shoulder.

What are the First Signs of Frozen Shoulder?
A Frozen Shoulder may start with pain, stiffness, or both. Patients may notice difficulty reaching up to comb their hair. Some struggle to fasten a bra strap. still, some simply wake up with a stiff shoulder. It is important to begin early range of motion activity when this happens to attempt to maintain full mobility.
What is the Best Exercise for Frozen Shoulder?
These 2 exercises may help with Frozen Shoulder
- Stand facing a wall and slide the hand up the wall as high as possible. Repeat this 10 times.
- Reach up behind the back toward the shoulder blades as high as possible. Repeat this 10 times. Using a towel or rope to help pull the stiff arm up toward the shoulder blades may help.
Is Frozen Shoulder Permanent?
Typically, Frozen shoulder eventually resolves. It usually resolves quicker with physical therapy and range of motion activity. Be proactive with treatment!
