Alexander Bigale is a Florida native who grew up playing baseball.  He went on to play baseball for Chipola College while earning his A.S. before transferring to the University of Central Florida to focus on his bachelor’s degree.  Alex then decided to attend FSCJ to become a physical therapist assistant.  Since becoming licensed, Alex has clinical experience in outpatient orthopedics, skilled nursing rehab, and balance/vestibular rehabilitation. Alex has been a member of the JOI rehab team since 2018.

Diana Cratem has been an Occupational Therapist since 1990 and has worked in a variety of setting including Baptist hospital and JOI.   She is also a Certified Hand Therapist since 2000. She continues to be an asset to this rehabilitation office with her knowledge of the functioning of the hand. Diana is also fluent in Spanish.

Chad Evans has been a licensed physical therapist since 1999.  He has worked in a variety of outpatient settings. He is an original member of the JOI rehab team. Since 2009 he has been the Site Coordinator for JOI’s University office and has now transitioned to being the Site Coordinator at JOI’s Arlington office. For the past 7 years, he has been the team physical therapist for Jacksonville University’s athletic program.  He continues to stay up-to-date with the latest in orthopedic care while rooting for the Gators and Jags.

Prior to joining JOI, Katie Trumble managed an outpatient clinic. She worked with people with various orthopedic conditions and helped with local high school athletics. She has worked in the outpatient setting since graduating from the University of St. Augustine, where she focused on manual therapeutic techniques and sports medicine.

In addition to treating patients at the Arlington rehab office, Katie Trumble is currently providing physical therapy treatment for the student-athletes at JU. She found her passion for physical therapy while playing soccer in high school, club, and collegiately, and still enjoys running, yoga, and Jaguars football. She is interested in pursuing certifications in manual therapy and orthopedic specialist.


Micaela Hill

Micaela Hill grew up in central Florida and attended Jacksonville University on a Division I rowing scholarship. She interned with Jacksonville Orthopedic Institute in 2017 and 2018. Micaela joined the JOI team in 2018 as a Rehabilitation Technician. Micaela is currently working to complete her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy at Jacksonville University. She anticipates completing her degree in 2021. She enjoys spending time at the beach, running, and spending time with her deaf dog, Orchid.

Linda Knight is along time resident of Jacksonville and graduated from Englewood High school, GO RAMS! Attended FSCJ. She has worked in the Rehabilitation front desk field for approximately 19 years. Linda previously worked for Healthsouth physical therapy. She joined JOI in 2008 and has worked in multiple  JOI rehab locations. Linda received the Jim Harrison Award for Excellence in Customer Service in 2017. She enjoys spending time with her puppy dog Miss Rusty and taking cruises.

Anita Ballmick, MOTR/L

Anita Ballmick is originally from Orlando, Florida and graduated from the University of Central Florida with a B.S. in Health Science. She then graduated with honors from the University of St. Augustine in 2017 with a Master of Occupational Therapy degree. She is currently working toward obtaining her Certification in Hand Therapy.

Steve Borkowski PT, MPT, MTC, CEAS

Master of Science in Physical Therapy (University of Florida, 2004)

While at the University of Florida, Steve Borkowski had the opportunity to assist with treatment of Division I collegiate athletes in a variety of sports and professional athletes in the National Football League (NFL). He has provided physical therapy services for the touring companies of several Broadway shows including Wicked, Les Misérables, and Book of Mormon.  Steve also served as a physical therapist for the Atlanta Falcons (NFL) and Georgia Force (AFL) cheerleading squads. He has treated Ironman and ITU World Championship triathletes, and has been a member of various high school sports medicine teams. Steve obtained his Manual Therapy Certification from the University of St. Augustine and brings his interest in manual therapy and sports medicine to our clinic.

Tim Burkhart’s experience includes personal training, strength and conditioning for the Orlando Magic, spinal cord/traumatic brain injury rehab, home health, and outpatient orthopaedic physical therapy. He has been with JOI since February 2005.

Meghan Dunn has been with the Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute Rehabilitation team since 2008. She enjoys working in the outpatient orthopaedic setting and is certified in the Graston technique for soft tissue mobilization. In her free time, Meghan enjoys spending time with her family, cooking and the beach.

Savannah Faulk is a Jacksonville native and played lacrosse at the University of Central Florida. She completed her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science for Human Performance in 2015. She went on to complete her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree at the University of St. Augustine for Health Science and graduated in 2018.

During her years of clinical practice, she developed a passion for treating orthopedic and sports injuries for patients of all ages and backgrounds. She has a special interest in treating Parkinson’s patients as she was certified by LSVT BIG which has proven to improve communication and movement in this patient population. Savannah is excited to start her career where It all began. She enjoys spending time with her friends and family as well as staying active with strength training.

Rachel Consolazio, Site Coordinator, PTA

Rachel Consolazio has been a practicing Physical Therapist Assistant at the JOI Baptist Beaches clinic since 2015, and has been site coordinator since 2019. She serves a diverse patient population including joint replacement, sports medicine, and spinal dysfunctions. Rachel is a clinical instructor, mentoring students during their clinical internship. She is also a certified Pilates instructor, which she utilizes in the rehabilitation of patients and transition back to recreational exercise. Rachel loves living in Jacksonville Beach with her husband Michael and their two cats.

Joan McLoud worked at Baptist Medical Center in the Health/Wellness/Cardiac Rehab department for nine years. After receiving a second PT degree, she enjoys working in inpatient/outpatient hospital settings, home health, skilled nursing facilities, and outpatient Sports Medicine physical therapy.

She is trained in the Graston Technique, Electric Therapy Point System (ETPS), McConnell Taping, Body Balance for Performance Golf Program, and personal fitness programs. Formally with the Aspen Colorado Hospital Physical Therapy Department, Joan joined JOI Beaches Rehab in 2005, and is currently the Senior Physical Therapist.

Brendan Morrison, ATC, LAT

Brendan Morrison is a Certified and Licensed Athletic Trainer. He has worked in numerous high school, college, professional and clinical athletic training settings. Brendan has been a part of athletic events ranging from youth baseball, middle and high school football, all the way up to seniors age men’s lacrosse.

He specializes in brace and splint fittings for all areas of the body, as well as a vast diversity of orthopedic conditions. When he is not at work, he spends his free time either fishing, working on various projects at home, or with his family, Great Dane, and his rescued Greyhound.

Jennifer Neuenfeldt was born and raised in the Jacksonville beaches area. While studying there she spent many hours volunteering in a hand clinic where she found her passion. Jen has now been with JOI for over a year with a focus in upper extremity treatment. Jen looks forward to many years with the organization.

Melissa Ross, LMT

Melissa Ross was born in Michigan. However military life brought her to Jacksonville in 1985, where she graduated Sandalwood High School. Melissa returned to Jacksonville in 1995 to raise her 3 children. Melissa went back to school after the market crash and graduated Southeastern School of Massage in 2012.  She worked in Chiropractor’s offices most of her career ever since.  JOI performed her back surgery in 2018 and helped her graduate out of rehabilitation through their fantastic physical therapy program.  She joined the JOI family August 2019 as a massage therapist at the Beaches Rehabilitation.  When not at work she enjoys volunteering at various events around Jacksonville, Girl Scout leader for 12yrs. Her hobbies include gardening and photography. It brings her great joy in helping other people achieve wellness and assisting in alleviating muscle soreness through massage.

Terri has experience in multiple setting including UE orthopedics , pediatrics, and general inpatient rehabilitation specializing in spinal cord injuries. Terri has been an active military spouse for 26 yrs. Completed the AOTA Fieldwork Educator Certification Program(FWECP) and Graston Certification.

Lisa received her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Duquesne University (Pittsburgh, PA) in 2007. She continued on to earn a Masters degree in Exercise Science. She did this while working as a Graduate Intern at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, where she was the Athletic Trainer for the Men’s Football, Wrestling, and Women’s Softball teams. After moving to Florida, Lisa worked as the Head Athletic Trainer at Flagler Palm Coast High School in Palm Coast, FL. Lisa joined JOI in July of 2012, and is currently the Head Athletic Trainer at Bishop J. Snyder High School, providing medical coverage for all Cardinal student-athletes.

Tiffany Wink is from Utah, she has 4 siblings. She enjoys running and playing board games with family. Tiffany  graduated from Weber State University in 2011 with a degree in athletic training. She came to Florida in 2013 to attend the University of Saint Augustine for Health sciences to pursue her physical therapy degree. Tiffany graduated April 2015 and joined the JOI team in June 2015.

Belinda Weaver was born in Nashville, TN. I currently posses an Associates Of Science in Nursing and have been in the medical field since 2005. Belinda Weaver is a mother of 3 teenagers and a 4 year old. A functioning mess by day and a football/T-ball mom by night. I am a wonderful wife, a fantastic cook, an excellent care taker, a taxi and carpool driver for my kids, a lover of most sports, and most importantly I am a person of faith.

Johnny is an Occupational Therapist with more than 12 years of experience. While at Samford University, he played football. Since finishing school, he has worked in a variety of settings. While in the outpatient setting, Johnny found a love for hand therapy and pursued his hand certification. Currently, he works as a CHT, where he focuses on upper extremity rehabilitation.

Charslesetta Johnson has been working in the Physical Therapy industry for over 19 years. She has been with Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute Rehabilitation for the last 13 years. Charlesetta has held several positions over the past 13 years and is currently the Site Coordinator at our Mandarin Rehabilitation Clinic, Supervisor of our Rehab Data Entry Dept., and our Clinical Coordinator for student interns.

She is the team Trainer and PT for the Roar of the Jaguars Professional Cheerleading Squad. In addition to her work in the clinic, she is also certified in Yoga, Pilates and Zumba. She teaches group fitness classes at several local gyms.

Ron Salazar has nine years of experience of working in an outpatient orthopaedic setting, where he focuses on spine rehab, sports physical therapy, and manual therapy techniques. For the past seven years, Sonya Thigpen has worked in outpatient orthopaedic rehabilitation. Sonya has been with JOI Rehab since the first clinic opened in 2003. She is actively involved in the JOI Sports Medicine Program. She serves as an assistant sports medicine director. Sonya Thigpen also helps with sports medicine coverage at the high school and collegiate level.

Sonya also works closely with the Jacksonville Juniors Volleyball Association (JJVA), helping to provide sports medicine coverage for all of their home tournaments.

Adam is originally from the Chicago-land Area and moved to Jacksonville shortly after graduate school.  While in PT school Adam fulfilled multiple clinical rotations all over the country, with a special focus on orthopedics and sports medicine. During his final year at the University of Dayton, Adam was able to complete an Independent Study at DePaul University in Chicago working with Division I college athletes. Adam started working at JOI in June 2018 and currently splits his time between the San Marco and Nassau clinics. In his off time Adam enjoys exercising, playing soccer and spending time outside with friends and family.

Kathryn Jackson is an Amelia Island native and is active in her local church. She spends a great deal of time with the youth in Fernandina and has fostered a great relationship with the local community.  When not working, Kathryn enjoys playing volleyball, participating in local and international mission work, and spending time with friends, family, and her two cats, Tarzan & Jazz. Kathryn was a PT tech in the past and was formerly a student here at JOI Rehab Nassau. She enjoyed her time in the clinic so much that she jumped at the opportunity to join the team in March 2020.

Laura graduated with honors from University of Illinois at Chicago in 1988. She has spent her career focusing on orthopedic upper extremity rehabilitation. Laura became a Certified Hand Therapist in 1993. Since that time she has taken many opportunities to further her education. She’s done this through continuing education, membership in professional organizations such as American Society of Hand Therapist, hand study groups and further certifications such as; Graston soft tissue technique, kinesio taping, LSVT BIG. Laura takes a hands on approach to therapy. Her goal is to achieve the highest level of function for her clients. Throughout her career Laura has always worked closely with the hand surgeons she works with to provide the best care for her clients through good communication regarding diagnosis and treatment options.

Amelia Son is a graduate from Florida State College of Jacksonville. During her clinical experience, Amelia focused on sports and Orthopaedic injuries. Not only did she work with younger athletes, but also had the opportunity to work with older athletes who just “wanted to stay in the game.” Prior to becoming a Physical Therapist Assistant, Amelia attained a Bachelors of Arts in Dance Studies from the University of South Florida and is classically trained in ballet and modern. Upon graduation, Amelia presented a dissertation. This explained the benefit of having biannual PT screenings on the students of the dance department. Amelia is now pursuing her Masters of Health Care Administration from Purdue University Global! Amelia is looking towards teaching dance again in her spare time and is excited to continue on her journey with JOI.

Demetria Velazquez earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Texas State University in San Marcos, TX.  She has experience working with the outpatient orthopedic population, as well as with acute care and orthopedic patients post-operatively. She has a strong passion for helping people of all ages and activity levels. Prior to physical therapy school, Demetria earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Marketing from Regis University in Denver, Colorado.

She was also captain of the Regis University Rangers dance team in college. Caitlin Violette is a graduate from Florida International University with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Prior to becoming a Physical Therapist, Caitlin graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science. Caitlin is a Graston Certified Physical Therapist. During her clinical experiences, she treated a variety of orthopaedic injuries with people of all ages and activity levels. Demetria Velazquez, PT, DPT

Demetria Velazquez earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Texas State University in San Marcos, TX.  She has experience working with the outpatient orthopedic population, as well as with acute care and orthopedic patients post-operatively. She has a strong passion for helping people of all ages and activity levels. Alexander Bigale is a Florida native who grew up playing baseball.  He went on to play baseball for Chipola College while earning his A.S. before transferring to the University of Central Florida to focus on his bachelor’s degree.  Alex then decided to attend FSCJ to become a physical therapist assistant.  Since becoming licensed, Alex has clinical experience in outpatient orthopedics, skilled nursing rehab, and balance/vestibular rehabilitation. Alex has been a member of the JOI rehab team since 2018.

Niki graduated from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2015 with her doctorate in physical therapy with an emphasis in manual therapy. During her clinical experiences she treated a wide variety of patient’s including pediatrics, acute care and various sports and orthopaedic injuries. Prior to becoming a Physical Therapist, Niki graduated from Texas Christian University, with a Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training, and worked with various D1 collegiate and professional athletes. She is currently working towards obtaining his Manual Therapy Certification from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences.

Emily Kolar is from Venice, FL where she participated in a variety of sports growing up. These include soccer in high school which resulted in an injury that led not only to surgery, but also to discovering her dream of becoming a physical therapist. Emily graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2015. She graduated with a Major in Sport and Exercise Science for Human Performance, and Minor in Fitness Training. She then attended the University of Saint Augustine for Health Sciences where she earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2018. Emily has clinical experience in a variety of therapy settings including outpatient, inpatient, aquatics, and vestibular. She is passionate about patient care and applying evidence based practice.

Kim Segler has worked in a variety of settings including acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient rehabilitation, orthopaedics, and home health care. She has also worked with the JOI hand surgeons since 1997, and joined JOI rehabilitation in 2004.

Justin Carmel is a graduate from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences with a specific focus in manual therapy. During his clinical experiences, he treated a wide range of sports and orthopaedic injuries and had the opportunity to work directly with various collegiate and professional athletes.

Prior to becoming a Physical Therapist, Justin graduated from the University of Cincinnati, with a Bachelors of Business Administration. He worked as a Sales/Marketing Manager for an International Manufacturing Supplier. Justin has a passion for therapeutic exercise program design/implementation, functional movement analysis, and sports injury prevention.

He is currently working towards obtaining his Manual Therapy Certification from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. He plans to further his knowledge of functional movement analysis/sports injury prevention by pursuing a Functional Movement Systems Certification. Justin’s hobbies include cabrewing, whitewater rafting, kayaking, fantasy football, zumba, and powerlifting.


Cesar Roman

Cesar Roman joined JOI after spending 16 years working in professional baseball. He worked for the Miami Marlins as a minor league athletic trainer in different levels. Cesar worked with the Jacksonville Suns/Jumbo Shrimp. Further, he began his athletic training career late in 2000 working as an assistant athletic trainer at St Francis College of New York.

Cesar was named Head Athletic Trainer for the 2006 Team Panama, and 2009 & 2013 Team Puerto Rico during the World Baseball Classic. Roman attended the Inter American University of Puerto Rico and Long Island University in Brooklyn New York. Further, he earned his BA and MS in Athletic Training and Sports Sciences respectively. He is a native of Puerto Rico and currently resides in Jacksonville.

Fadel Taazieh is a graduate of University of North Florida in 2012 with BS in Athletic Training and University of St Augustine with Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2014. Fadel’s interests are sports-related injuries and are pursuing further certification with manual therapy.

Fadel practiced Taekwondo for 14 years and received a 3rd black belt and has an extensive background in martial arts. Fadel also participated in extreme martial arts for several years and has a great understanding of acrobatic stunts. Fadel’s other interests include watching football, music, and fitness. He welcomes new patients at our Point Meadows Clinic.

Kori Price earned her Athletic Training degree from Ohio’s Ashland University in 2016. After graduating AU, she moved to Annapolis, Maryland. Further, she served as an Intern AT for the US Naval Academy Men’s and Women’s Ice Hockey and Golf programs.

While in Maryland, Kori also worked with several EMS and Life Flight departments gaining a new perspective to first responding. Kori’s additional Athletic Training experience includes serving Marshall University’s Army ROTC Program and local high schools in her hometown. Kori joined the JOI team in 2019 and is currently the Athletic Trainer at FSCJ for Baseball and Softball. Further, she joined The Episcopal School of Jacksonville providing coverage for Tennis.

Being a New Orleans native, Louis enjoys watching LSU and Saints football. Besides physical therapy, Louis’s passion is getting outside and hiking in the high mountains of Colorado. He has summited more than 50 peaks over 14,000 feet.

Ehren Allen is a Senior Physical therapist and Content Writer at the Jacksonville Orthopedic Institute Rehabilitation – San Marco Division. He has been with JOI since 2005. Ehren studied Physical Therapy at the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. Further, he completed a Post-Professional Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the College of Saint Scholastica.

Ehren Allen specializes in the evaluation and treatment of orthopedic and sports issues with an emphasis on spinal rehabilitation. He is a Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist and integrates manual therapy into the treatment of joint and tissue injuries. Further, he specializes in post-concussion rehabilitation. He also specializes in vestibular rehabilitation and has over 20 years of experience as a physical therapist.

Daniel Brady is a New Jersey native. He graduated from Rider University in 2013 where he  was a member of the Swimming and Diving team. Daniel graduated with a Bachelor’s in Behavioral Neuroscience. He went on to pursue his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from The University of Florida and graduated in 2017. Daniel fulfilled multiple internships while at the University of Florida, including an outpatient sports rotation at the Texas Metroplex Institute where he had the opportunity to work with athletes of all age ranges and gained a strong interest for outpatient orthopedics. He is excited to be part of the JOI team.

Luke Bratton is a graduate from the University of North Florida with a major in Athletic Training. Further, his clinical experience includes Division-I athletics with the UNF softball and soccer team. He was also part of the Sports Medicine staff for Jacksonville University Football. Further, he is currently the Athletic Trainer for Fernandina Beach High School Athletics, providing sports medicine coverage for practices and games.

Luke focuses his treatment based on a combination of manual therapy and therapeutic exercises to build strength, stability and improve ROM. He enjoys playing beach volleyball, kayaking, swimming, and playing guitar. Luke is now the ATC for Bishop Kenny High School.

Samantha Brown graduated from Emory & Henry College in 2016 with her Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training. In the Fall of 2017, she continued her education by working on her Master’s degree in Advanced Athletic Training at the University of South Florida. Further, Samantha worked for two years as an intern at Warner University. Further, she was primarily responsible for men’s soccer and baseball. Samantha joined JOI in July of 2018 and is serving as the DME Coordinator.

Jessica Bruno is originally from New Jersey and moved to Florida for graduate school. She decided to go back to school after being exposed to occupational therapy. Further, she fell in love with her career.

During her internships, she gained experience in many settings including inpatient rehab, schools, pediatrics, and outpatient orthopedics. Further, she thoroughly enjoyed working in the outpatient setting. She decided to pursue her career in this setting.

Bridget Carey has been a practicing physical therapist assistant here at JOI since November 2017. She was born and raised here in Jacksonville where she attended Duncan U. Fletcher High School.  She then went onto West Virginia University. Further, she walked onto the Varsity Volleyball team and competed in the Big East as a Libero/ Defensive Specialist.

Bridget Carey then went on to transfer to the University of Central Florida where she completed her Bachelors in Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders.  She found her love for the field of Physical Therapy during her last semester at UCF while working with patients in the Aphasia House where she was given the opportunity to be apart of the rehabilitation of patients that were affected by TBI, stroke, and other neurological deficits. Further, she then attended the PTA program at FSCJ and graduated in August of 2017.  In her free time she enjoys playing beach volleyball, riding her beach cruiser, and playing with her two dachshunds.

Chang Chau is a Jacksonville native who graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of St. Augustine in 2015 with a Master of Occupational Therapy degree. During his clinical internships, he treated both traumatic and non-traumatic brain injury patients at Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital. Further, he placed special emphasis on upper extremity orthopedics at the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center.

Further, Chang Chau graduated from the University of North Florida with a B.S. in Health and Exercise Science and is a Certified Exercise Physiologist. He is currently working towards obtaining his Certification in Hand Therapy. Go Jags!

Michelle Duclos gained valuable experience at UF by working with the volleyball and football teams. Further, she later interned at the University of South Florida. She also worked with the football team, which was invited to the Meineke Car Care Bowl, the first bowl game in USF history.

While at USF, she worked mainly with the Women’s volleyball team, and helped to cover the NCAA Women’s Final Four in 2008. She also helped cover the NCAA Men’s First and Second Rounds hosted in Tampa. Further, Michelle Duclos helped host the Big East Tennis and Baseball Tournaments in 2008. She came to JOI in 2008. She is presently the athletic trainer for events and practices at Florida State College at Jacksonville. Michelle also serves as the Sports Medicine Director.

Kerri Gilbert is a Jacksonville native who graduated from Bishop Kenny High School in 2010. She attended the University of Florida for physical therapy school graduating with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in April 2017. Kerri began working for JOI Rehab San Marco in August 2017, then decided to pursue a travel physical therapy opportunity in January 2019. During this time she worked in several outpatient orthopedic clinics throughout Arizona and California, advancing her skills in manual therapy and post-operative treatments. Kerri returned to Jacksonville and the San Marco clinic in July 2020 eager to share her experience with co-workers and patients.

Thomas has been a certified athletic trainer since September of 2010. Further, he has experience working with a multitude of sports with a vast range of age groups. Originally a Massachusetts native he has traveled to London to work with cheerleaders and dancers. He has worked with professional athletes doing a summer internship with the St. Louis Rams. Further, he worked with the Bridgeport Bluefish (Independent Professional Baseball team), and worked the Boston Marathon for years.

He comes to us after working with three Division I universities (Brown, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and most recently Florida A&M University). Further, Thomas joined JOI in August of 2018 and serves as the Head Athletic Trainer at The Bolles School.


Drew Heideman

Drew Heideman has been with JOI Rehabilitation staff more than six years. Further, he joined the rehabilitation team in 2004. In 2009 became Site Coordinator of JOI’s largest rehabilitation facility, San Marco. He completed athletic training internships with the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars and the USAT National Triathlon Training Center.

Further, he has also served as Athletic Trainer for the Jacksonville Barracudas hockey team. Drew enjoys working with elite and amateur athletes who have a special interest in endurance sports, including running, cycling and multisport.

He serves as a clinical liaison between JOI Rehab sites and JOI physicians to sustain consistent and exceptional patient care and to ensure that current staff is given educational opportunities to develop and enhance clinical skills.

Thalia Honea is a local from Orange Park, Florida. Further, she graduated from the University of Florida in 2014 with a B.S. in Health Education. During her undergraduate coursework, she was a therapeutic riding instructor for a non-profit. The non-profit provided equine-assisted occupational therapy for children with disabilities in Archer, FL.

She continued her education at the University of Saint Augustine for Health Sciences, where she graduated with her Master of Occupational Therapy degree with honors. During her schooling, Thalia was placed at JOI for one of her internship rotations, where she found her passion for upper extremity orthopedic rehabilitation. She is currently working toward obtaining her Certification in Hand Therapy. Thalia enjoys spending time spoiling her rescue dog and chickens.

Sarah Katsaras graduated from FSU with Bachelor’s of Science in Biology in 1994. Earned Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from University of St. Augustine in 1999. Has been with JOI for 11 years, opened the JOI Spine Center in 2011 and has been coordinating the Spine Club meetings for 6 years. She also earned her OCS certification in 2011.

Tristyn Kinser joined the JOI staff in August 2019. She serves as the outreach Athletic Trainer at Paxon School for Advance studies as well as Assistant Athletic Trainer to the ROAR of the Jaguars. Kinser comes to JOI from High Point University in North Carolina where she worked as the Assistant Athletic Trainer for men’s & women’s cross country and track & field programs from August 2018 to May 2019.  The Jacksonville native graduated from The University of North Florida in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. She continued her educational career at Jacksonville University, earning a Master’s in Kinesiological Sciences in April 2018. During this time she served as the Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Dolphins’ football program for the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons.

Josh Martin joined the JOI team in September of 2019. Josh is currently the head ATC for the Jacksonville Sharks. Prior to joining the JOI team, Josh worked in various athletic training settings which include: an NFL internship with the Cleveland Browns, Division II Athletics, and High School Sports. Josh graduated from CALU in 2019 with his Degree in Athletic Training.

While in college, Josh played Rugby for the CALU Vulcans and was also the Head Fitness Instructor for Herron Hall. Josh is passionate about improving athlete’s health and performance on and off the field.

Further, Debbie has been with JOI since 1995.

Pamela Wilson came to JOI following many years of practice In the Boston and Dallas areas.  She has extensive experience in traumatic, work and sports-related injuries of the upper extremity.  A Certified Hand Therapist since 1991 she has been with JOI since 2008.

Melissa Levy is an Acupuncture Physician and is NCCAOM Nationally Board Certified in Oriental Medicine. She graduated summa cum laude from Pacific College of Health and Science, where she received her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. She graduated summa cum laude from Florida College of Integrative Medicine with her Masters of Oriental Medicine and Bachelors in Professional Health Science. Before her acupuncture studies, Melissa studied Exercise Science at The University of Tampa. She has further training in Injection Therapy, Sports Acupuncture, and Musculoskeletal Dysfunction. Her love and passion for living a healthy holistic life started at a young age as an athlete. She proceeded to expand her love of fitness by becoming a Certified Personal Trainer (National Academy of Sports Medicine) and is also a Certified Group Fitness Instructor (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America), Certified Boxing Instructor, Hatha Yoga Instructor, and Certified SPINNING Instructor. She has trained a wide variety of clientele and has taught numerous group fitness classes. Dr. Levy appreciates the health benefits that acupuncture has to offer. She intends to educate all her patients on acupuncture and health prevention.

Renee Haire has always had a passion for massage, so it seemed only natural that she makes it into a career. Graduating from Southeastern School for Neuromuscular and Massage Therapy in 2004, she received her certification in Neuromuscular Therapy. Further, she has since also received training in Sports Massage, Cupping Therapy, and Medical Massage.

Renee has worked for various companies including the very first Massage Envy in Jacksonville, FL. Further, she was able to work on hundreds of clients. Gaining the much-needed practice and confidence, all therapists require before finding herself at JOI.

Heather Lopez is an occupational therapist with 20 plus years of experience treating upper extremity orthopedic injuries.  Further, she obtained her hand certification in 2006.  Heather works closely with the JOI surgeons to help her patients reach their functional goals.  Further, she continues to enjoy working with her colleagues in a team approach atmosphere.

Allan Fiesta graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from the University of the City of Manila (Philippines) in 2000. He obtained his transitional doctorate degree in physical therapy with high honors from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (2017) in St. Augustine, Florida. Further, all has worked in various clinical settings which include long-term care, home health, acute care and outpatient settings.

He has been with JOI since 2013 and started working as the spine physical therapist at the JOI South Clinic – Spine Center since 2014. He is a board-certified orthopedic clinical specialist through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS). Further, he is a current member of the Orthopedic Section of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). Allan Fiesta is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (AAOMPT). Further, his area of interest includes the use of manual therapy techniques in the cervical and lumbar spine. He is currently working towards obtaining his manual therapy certification through the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences.

Kenneth Goodin has been a Licensed PT since 2017, prior to joining JOI he worked in Skilled Nursing, Acute Care, and Outpatient settings. Further, he is training to specialize in running biomechanics to provide care for the local running community.  He completed his certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist in 2018 through the NSCA. Kenneth Goodin is a Jacksonville native, he graduated from Duncan Fletcher in 2001 before joining the military.

Julia Guthart is an Occupational Therapist and Certified Hand Therapist with over 20 years of experience treating upper extremity orthopaedic diagnoses. Further, obtained her Certification in Hand Therapy in 1992, after specializing in the field for many years. Julia has extensive experience in custom splinting and direct patient care. Further, Julia Guthart has been the Hand Therapy Coordinator for JOI Rehabilitation and is the JOI Rehab South Site Coordinator.

For the past seven years, Tiffany Patterson has worked in an outpatient orthopaedic setting, where she concentrates on hand and upper extremity rehabilitation. In 2007, she became a Certified Hand Therapist. Further, Tiffany has been working with JOI Rehabilitation since 2006.

Joanna Starkey is one of the original members of JOI rehabilitation. Further, she has been a CHT for over 10 years working with all injuries of the upper extremity. She also is a performing arts specialist working with Broadway physical therapy and as a dancer herself for several years prior to becoming a therapist. Joanna Starkey enjoys expanding and improving her manual skills and recently became a fascial stretch therapist.

This is a certified stretching technique using a pain-free manual stretch to entire connective tissue paths rather than a certain muscle or joint. Further, she has taught in local and national courses for upper extremity disorders and performing artist injuries. Joanna loves the team atmosphere of working with high-level surgeons and fellow hand therapists.

Joe Stubits is a native of Fernandina Beach, FL where he grew up playing multiple sports. While in middle school, Joe sustained a significant knee injury requiring surgery and months of Physical Therapy. Once he was able to return to playing sports, Joe knew that he wanted to work in the Physical Therapy field and help others return to their hobbies and sports like he was able to.

Since becoming a licensed PTA, Joe has had clinical experience in outpatient, skilled nursing and home health settings and has had the opportunity to work with patients with sports injuries, orthopedic, neurological, cardiac and medically complex conditions. Joe has been a member of the JOI rehab team since 2016.

Before coming to Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute, Tracy Wilcox worked with teams at UAB and North Georgia College. Tracy graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Athletic Training in 2005. Further, she completed her degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant from Florida State College of Jacksonville in 2015. Tracy Wilcox enjoys working in outpatient orthopedics and has spent time with a variety of sports teams. Tracy has been with JOI since 2010.

Dominic Worsowicz is a graduate of the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. Through his internships and work at JOI, he has treated patients with a variety of orthopedic conditions. Further, he enjoys the physical therapy profession and continues to keep current with the newest treatments and therapies.

Micaela Hill grew up in central Florida and attended Jacksonville University on a Division I rowing scholarship. She interned with Jacksonville Orthopedic Institute in 2017 and 2018. Micaela joined the JOI team in 2018 as a Rehabilitation Technician. Micaela is currently working to complete her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy at Jacksonville University. She anticipates completing her degree in 2021. She enjoys spending time at the beach, running, and spending time with her deaf dog, Orchid.

Melissa Levy is an Acupuncture Physician and is NCCAOM Nationally Board Certified in Oriental Medicine. She graduated summa cum laude from Pacific College of Health and Science, where she received her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. She graduated summa cum laude from Florida College of Integrative Medicine with her Masters of Oriental Medicine and Bachelors in Professional Health Science. Before her acupuncture studies, Melissa studied Exercise Science at The University of Tampa. She has further training in Injection Therapy, Sports Acupuncture, and Musculoskeletal Dysfunction. Her love and passion for living a healthy holistic life started at a young age as an athlete. She proceeded to expand her love of fitness by becoming a Certified Personal Trainer (National Academy of Sports Medicine) and is also a Certified Group Fitness Instructor (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America), Certified Boxing Instructor, Hatha Yoga Instructor, and Certified SPINNING Instructor. She has trained a wide variety of clientele and has taught numerous group fitness classes. Dr. Levy appreciates the health benefits that acupuncture has to offer. She intends to educate all her patients on acupuncture and health prevention.

Ryan Darragh PT, DPT

Ryan graduated with his undergraduate degree in Athletic Training from Florida State University in 2014, working rotations with their Football, Baseball, Women’s Soccer, and Men’s basketball teams during his tenure as an athletic training student. Ryan went on to graduate with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Florida International University in Miami, Florida in 2017. He is GRASTON technique certified. Ryan enjoys spending time with his family, going to the beach, and playing sports with friends.

Cailin Brookshire has been with JOI since October of 2018. She is a graduate of Westside High School class of 2018. In her free time, she enjoys going to Disney and spending time with family and friends.

Robert Lim is a site coordinator and performance enhancement specialist at the JOI Rehab Westside office. He is certified with the National Academy of Sports Medicine as well as registered as a Performance Enhancement Specialist (NASM-PES), and has had training in Graston Technique.

Blake Rawlings graduated with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2010 with an emphasis in manual therapy.  He has worked in outpatient orthopaedics his entire career and he was the recipient for the 2012 Jim Harrison Award for Excellence in Patient care. He is GRASTON Technique Certified and SFMA Certified (Selective Functional Movement Assessment).

Stephen Marcos, Front Desk

Stephen Marcos graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Florida in 2015. After graduating, he volunteered with various health clinics and organizations in Clay and Duval County, such as Volunteers in Medicine – Jacksonville and The Way Free Medical Clinic. He has been with JOI since September 2015. Stephen is currently looking in graduate schools to further his education.
