Orthopaedic or Orthopedic Specialist/Surgeon

Ortho Specialists JOI

Ortho Specialists

Why are there two different ways to spell orthopaedic/orthopedic? The Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute uses the original "orthopaedic" spelling because it was widely accepted in most Universities and higher education institutions.  Orthopaedic is derived from the Greek word "orthos" which is straight and "paideion" which is child.  The word "orthopedic" evolved as a common use of the word in the United States.
