JOI continues to be the leader in the North Florida Region for innovative orthopedic and rehabilitation care.
JOI Rehab’s Class 4 Laser Therapy is an FDA cleared modality that reduces inflammation and ultimately results in pain reduction. Laser Therapy is effective in treating acute pain, chronic conditions and post-op pain. Deep Tissue Laser Therapy treatments are administered in 5 to 10 minutes. Typically patients see results after 3 to 5 treatment sessions. Deep Tissue Laser Therapy utilizes your body’s own healing powers by stimulating celluar activity. Despite fast treatment times, laser therapy treatments initiate a healing process that continues to actively reduce inflammation for up 24 hours after treatment. Laser treatments are excellent for the treatment of plantar fasciitis and the pain associated with the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.
AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill
Thanks to its precise un-weighting technology, the AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill allows you to push your physical therapy rehabilitation and training further than ever before. Using JOI Rehab’s Alter G treadmill you can reduce gravity’s impact by selecting any weight between 20% and 100% of your body weight. This allows us to rehabilitate lower extremity injuries with less pain and less impact. Unlike any other piece of training equipment available, the AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill can take you further, faster than you ever thought possible after surgery or injury
JOI Physicians use a variety of Hyaluronic Acid injections. Hyaluronic acid injections are an early intervention treatment for patients who suffer from Osteoarthritis. The gel which is injected is a natural supplement for the synovial fluid of the joint. The goal is to decrease pain so that the patient is able to return to an active lifestyle. There is no need to suffer from the effects of Osteoarthritis.
Reverse Total Shoulder Replacement
Reverse total shoulder replacements are a viable procedure for patients with large rotator cuff tears or shoulder arthropathy. The procedure involves artificially replacing the ball and cup of the shoulder joint. This alternate technique of joint replacement allows the deltoid to do the majority of the work when moving the arm. Changing the major muscles involved in moving the arm allows for increased functionality, mobility, and reduced pain.
Makoplasty Partial Knee and Total Hip Replacement
Robot assisted Makoplasty is a state of the art procedure used in partial hip and knee replacements. This new technology allows physicians to optimally shape the hip or knee joints to fit the new prosthetics and reduce the loss of healthy bone. Mako partial joint replacements are minimally invasive and result in more natural range of motion and less recovery time compared to other joint replacement procedures.
Superior Capsule Repair
Rotator cuff superior capsule repair is an innovative new procedure that can be used to repair rotator cuffs that were once thought inoperable. This new procedure uses a tendon graft to help mend the torn rotator cuff tissue which helps to restore normal range of motion and reduce pain. Studies have shown that rotator cuff superior capsule repair is a viable option for patients with large tears in their rotator cuff.
Platelet rich plasma injections are a clinically proven treatment for patients with osteoarthritis of the knee. In this procedure, the patient’s own blood is taken and spun down to be separated. The platelet portion of the blood is then added back to the knee joint. This has shown to stimulate growth factors reducing inflammation and further loss of cartilage while improving the overall function in the knee.
Needle aponeurotomy procedures are a minimally invasive alternative to surgery in the treatment of Dupuytren’s contractures. The procedure, which is done in the office, allows the physician to release restrictive cords in the hand to help the patient move the fingers freely. Patients prefer needle aponeurotomies over surgery because it avoids incisions, involves minimal pain, and dramatically reduces recovery time.
Advanced Spine Care
Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute has designed a vertically integrated network for you in all aspects of the recovery process. JOI has Orthopaedic Spine Physicians, physical therapy, physiatry, and a dedicated spine center, among several other services, all under one roof. This unique network of health care professionals provides unmatched care that is individually tailored to get you back on the road to recovery.
Hip Labral Reconstruction
Are you living with hip pain? If you have damage to the hip labrum that is so severe that it cannot be repaired, a new treatment, Hip Labral Reconstruction has been developed to treat hip pain, stop the cycle of damage to the hip joint, and potentially even prevent the need for hip replacement. In this cutting edge procedure, a graft tendon is used to reconstruct the damaged hip labrum. Patients are quickly rehabilitated and can return to normal physical activities within weeks.
Birmingham Hip Resurfacing
Did you know a pioneering piece of metal can change your life? One of the biggest demands in medicine today is hip replacement surgery, but a different kind of procedure is called Birmingham Hip Resurfacing. This procedure may be a good option if you are an active male with hip arthritis. In this procedure the femur is shaved off and capped with metal hardware as opposed to a traditional total hip procedure which replaces the entire head, neck and bone. This procedure creates an incredible range of motion which can produce life changing results. Birmingham Hip Resurfacing in Jacksonville is performed exclusively at The Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute.
