Testimonial about Dr. Kitay

Lynn Cheney’s shoulder arthritis had become so severe, simple tasks were impossible. She couldn’t drive, put dishes in her cabinet, wash her own hair or even dress herself without help.
After exhausting all conservative treatment options, Lynn determined along with her shoulder specialist, that she was ready for the next step – total shoulder arthroplasty.

“I couldn’t do anything. It was excruciating,” Lynn said. “My shoulders became so bad that I had a torn tendon from a bone spur that was sticking out into my shoulder.”

Lynn, 60, who lives in Yulee, had her left shoulder replacement procedure in August 2014 followed by her right in July 2015, both by Garry S. Kitay, MD, orthopaedic surgeon with Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute.

“I didn’t know what to expect, but made it through the first one and three months of physical therapy at Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute. It was so successful and so good that when I went back for my follow-up there was no pain.”

“After the first surgery, I was confident enough to do it again within a year for my other shoulder. Both surgeries were 100 percent successful. There is no pain in my shoulders.”
“Dr. Kitay is a fantastic surgeon. He’s wonderful. I always get a hug when I see him. He talks to you and explains things to you in detail. You are not rushed. He is very calming. I cant say enough good things about him. I love his professionalism and his sense of humor.”

Dr. Kitay said Lynn had the expected outcome from the procedure, excellent restoration of range of motion and pain relief. She is back to driving, washing her own hair and looking forward to swimming this summer, which she hasn’t been able to do in five years.

“Now it’s like I have brand new shoulders. The scar is not even ad and I don’t have the pain that I had before. It’s been a life changer,” Lynn said.
