What is Extreme Lateral Interbody Fusion Procedure?

XLIF stands for Extreme Lateral Interbody Fusion surgery. This minimally invasive procedure has two small incisions.  One incision is on the side and one is on the back.  This procedure uses a special tool to give MD access to the spine.  If you want to learn more about spinal fusion surgery, please read this ARTICLE by Dr. Sunday Ero.  Dr. Ero is an Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon at the JOI Baptist South Clinic.
