The AC Joint in the Shoulder is a joint where the acromion bone and the clavicle bone.  There are ligaments which provide stability to this joint.  The AC joint is usually injured with some sort of contact or impact to the top of the shoulder.  It can occur in an auto accident or in contact sports like football.
