Are The Jacksonville Sharks A Professional Football Team?
The quick answer is yes, the Sharks are a professional Arena football team. We are fortunate to have football in the summer here in Jacksonville. And, the games are inside an air conditioned arena, which is a perfect break from the summer heat and humidity here in Florida.
What is Arena Football?
The quick answer is Arena football is football that’s played indoors. But, the field is different from traditional American Football. The field of play is half the length (50 yards) with Arena Football and the sidelines are padded walls. The field is the same size as an NHL Hockey rink. The walls along the sidelines are used as part of the game for blocking and play development.
Some other differences include playing kickoff returns off of the net behind the end zone. Scoring is typically a lot higher in arena football which makes the game really exciting!
The game is played with 8 players on the field but they can have 21 on the roster.
The Sharks make the game really fun for the fans with lots of game and contests. They really make the fan experience special for all ages.
