Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute Rehabilitation has 2 Designated Spine Centers in Jacksonville. Our goal is to provide relief for patients experiencing back or neck pain.  The JOI Rehab locations are San Marco and Baptist South.  We have specialized Spine Physical Therapists who work directly with your JOI Orthopedic Spine Surgeons and Physicians.  We coordinate care and offer the best treatment possible for back and neck pain. Our JOI Spine Physicians and our JOI Rehab Therapists meet quarterly for spine club.  The meeting is to share information, improve communication with the goal of improved patient outcomes.

Specialty Treatments at JOI Rehab Spine Centers

Medical Lasers

Medical laser therapy works by penetrating damaged cells with the light from the laser. The changes in cellular activity result in quicker healing times and decreased pain. This form of treatment is also offered at each of the orthopaedic and spine centers – San Marco and Baptist South locations. Medical laser treatment is $20 per visit per body part. Medical Massages

Our licensed Massage Therapists offer medically directed massage services, including those specifically designed to focus on soft tissue, spine-specific, and sports-related injuries. We work directly with JOI’s Physical Therapists in coordinating your care at our Spine Center. Medical massage therapy is $60 per session and is available at 3 JOI Rehab locations –

Dry Needling

Our certified dry needling therapists offer appropriate treatment to support traditional physical therapy protocols. This treatment can be adjunct to traditional treatment of orthopaedic conditions, such as chronic neck and lower back pain.  Dry needling is being offered at the San Marco, World Golf and Nassau locations.  Our goal is to offer another treatment modality to help control your pain. 

JOI Rehab Fast Track Spine Program

Patients can now be referred directly to JOI Rehab from their primary care doctor or any other physician.  This allows patients to begin conservative care for back and neck issues within 1 business day of being referred for physical therapy. Here’s how it works:

  1. Go to your doctor if you have back or neck pain.
  2. Request a referral to the JOI Rehab Fast Track program.
  3. Contact us with a referral, and we will see you by the next business day.

If you need to see a JOI Orthopedic Spine Doctor, you can still begin physical therapy immediately.  Your primary doctor can simply refer you to a JOI spine physician at the same time that they refer you to JOI Rehab. Your therapist will communicate your progress to the JOI spine doctors so that they are up to date on your progress when you go for your appointment.
