Renan Abagat, PT

Renan has been practicing Physical Therapy since 1991. He has worked in all therapy settings but the bulk of his experience is in outpatient orthopaedics. His special interests include neuromuscular reeducation as an adjunct to manual medicine.
Theresa Adams, ATC, LAT

Theresa initially came to JOI as a DME Coordinator at the Beaches location. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from the University of North Florida in 2010. While at UNF, she interned with UNF Women’s Soccer, Jacksonville University Football, Fletcher High School, and JOI Rehabilitation. Upon graduation, Theresa worked as an athletic trainer and a biology teacher at University High School in Orange City, FL. In August of 2011, Theresa became the Head Athletic Trainer at Episcopal High School, providing medical coverage to all of their athletes.
Ehren Allen, PT, COMT
Ehren Allen performed his undergraduate training in Music at the Florida State University. He went on to complete his professional training in Physical Therapy at Florida A&M University. He practiced in many specialty areas since 2000, including neurology, pediatrics, and private practice before deciding to specialize in orthopedics and sports medicine. He completed his certification as an Orthopedic Manual Therapist in 2007 through the Maitland Australian Physiotherapy Group and currently incorporates manual therapy into the treatment of various orthopedic conditions and injuries.
Certified Athletic Trainer
Brett Allen is a Certified Athletic Trainer who works in the clinic, as well as, covers the Jacksonville Sharks arena football team. He has worked with professional athletes since 2003 in four different sports (Football, Baseball, Hockey, and Luge). Prior to joining our staff and the Jax Sharks, he had the opportunity to travel abroad with the USA Luge team, as well as, to China for the inaugural China Arena Football League (CAFL) this past season. Originally from Gainesville, FL, Brett has lived all over the country pursuing his career. In his spare time he enjoys golf, snowboarding, biking, waterskiing, and shooting targets.

Jessica Bruno, MOTR/L

Jessica is originally from New Jersey and moved to Florida for graduate school. She decided to go back to school after being exposed to occupational therapy, and falling in love with the career. During her internships she gained experience in many settings including inpatient rehab, schools, pediatrics, and outpatient orthopedics. She thoroughly enjoyed working in the outpatient setting and decided to pursue her career in this setting. She is excited to begin her career at JOI.
Megan Burke, MS, ATC, LAT, CSCS
Megan Burke graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University in Spring 2014 with her bachelors degree in Athletic Training. In Fall 2014, Megan continued her education as a graduate assistant at the University of Florida. Megan worked two years in the Alachua County school district serving as a high school outreach athletic trainer through the Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Institute of Gainesville. In addition to providing sports medicine coverage for her high school, Megan spent time working with the University Athletic Association- mainly covering high school summer camps and volunteering at events such as the Climb for Cancer and Pepsi Florida Relays. Last summer, Megan received her certification as an NSCA- Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist; this certification allows Megan to develop more functional rehabilitation programs for her athletes as well as help aid in the prevention of new injuries. In Spring 2016, Megan graduated from the University of Florida with her masters in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology with a concentration in Athletic Training. This is her first year working at Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute, and she is very excited to begin her time as the Head Athletic Trainer at Atlantic Coast High School. Megan is passionate about the field of athletic training and hopes to become a strong advocate for the profession- primarily promoting the importance of having athletic trainers in every high school across the country.
Taylor graduated from the University of North Florida in May of 2017 with her bachelors degree in Athletic Training. Taylor did multiple internship rotations during her undergraduate studies as a student athletic training which include UNF's women basketball team, Bishop Kenny High School, Episcopal School of Jacksonville, and Ponte Vedra High School. Taylor joined JOI in July of 2017 soon after graduating UNF and will be covering at Florida State College of Jacksonville's North Campus and the secondary campus for Episcopal School of Jacksonville.
Chang Chau, OT

Chang is a Jacksonville native who graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of St. Augustine in 2015 with a Master of Occupational Therapy degree. During his clinical internships he treated both traumatic and non-traumatic brain injury patients at Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital and placed special emphasis on upper extremity orthopedics at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center. Prior to becoming an Occupational Therapist, Chang graduated from the University of North Florida with a B.S. in Health and Exercise Science and is a Certified Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine. He is currently working towards obtaining his Certification in Hand Therapy. Go Jags!
Lily Condy, MOTR/L, CLT

Prior to graduating from Occupational Therapy school, Lily worked as an Exceptional Student Educator in St. Johns County, FL. She has worked in a variety of settings, including subacute care, skilled nursing, outpatient orthopedics, and home health. She is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist.
Florida Licensed Massage Therapist
Megan’s passion is the need to help people, which prompted her to start her career after high school as a Massage Therapist. She graduated with over 1,000 hours and has over 4 years of experience as a medical massage therapist. She likes to incorporate therapeutic massage in with deep tissue work, trigger point therapy, and a combination of other modalities. Combining these different techniques makes it to where she can customize better for each individual needs for a therapeutic, yet effective massage in relieving tight muscles from every day use or injuries of overuse. She specializes in the use her elbows, forearms, knuckle stripping techniques to go deep into the muscles and release tension and stiffness. Megan has a very professional passion for spreading how massage can help everyone in many ways, and she strives to see her clients get healthier during their journey of rehabilitation.
Anna Dawson, ATC

Anna earned her Athletic Training degree from University of South Florida in 2013. While there she worked with football, basketball, track and field, and a few high schools in the area. She gained experience working at Texas A&M University- Kingsville as the Athletic Trainer for women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball and assisting with football. She continued to earn her Masters degree in Exercise and Nutrition Science at The University of Tampa. Anna joined JOI in August 2015 and is currently Head Athletic Trainer for Paxon School for Advanced Studies providing medical coverage for the Golden Eagles student-athletes.

Michelle Duclos, MA, ATC, LAT, CES

Michelle gained valuable experience at UF by working with the volleyball and football teams. She later interned at the University of South Florida and worked with the football team, which was invited to the Meineke Car Care Bowl, the first bowl game in USF history. While at USF, she worked mainly with the Women’s volleyball team, and helped to cover the NCAA Women’s Final Four in 2008 and the NCAA Men’s First and Second Rounds hosted in Tampa. She also helped host the Big East Tennis and Baseball Tournaments in 2008. She came to JOI in 2008, and is presently the athletic trainer for events and practices at Florida State College at Jacksonville. Michelle also serves as Sports Medicine Director alongside Bryan Anderson.
Ben Evans, PT, DPT
Ben graduated from Florida State University with a B.S. in Psychology (2007) and from the University of St. Augustine program with a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree (2014). He has worked primarily in outpatient orthopedics treating surgical and non-surgical conditions from the neck to the foot and vestibular dysfunctions. His doctoral studies developed a strong background in manual and orthopedic physical therapy and allowed him the opportunity to complete all courses for his Manual therapy Certification (MTC) from the University of St. Augustine. In his off time, he enjoys working out, surfing and spending time with his friends and family.

Julia is an Occupational Therapist and Certified Hand Therapist with over 20 years of experience treating upper extremity orthopaedic diagnoses. She obtained her Certification in Hand Therapy in 1992, after specializing in the field for many years. Julia has extensive experience in custom splinting and direct patient care. Julia has been the Hand Therapy Coordinator for JOI Rehabilitation for the past four years.

Greg Heeter, MA, ATC, LAT

Greg earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training at the University of North Florida in 2011. While in school at UNF, Greg worked with the UNF Men’s Basketball team, held an internship with the Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2010 Training Camp and Preseason, assisted the Jacksonville University Football Team as a student athletic trainer, and finished his clinical duties at Bishop Kenny High School. After graduating, he attended the University of Arkansas as a Graduate Assistant for the Men’s Tennis team and Spirit Squad. Upon leaving Arkansas, Greg accepted a job in Anchorage, AK to work with the local high school athletes for a year prior to working for JOI.
Andrew “Drew” Heideman, MPT, ATC, PES

Drew has been with JOI Rehabilitation staff more than six years. He joined the rehabilitation team in 2004, and in 2009 became Site Coordinator of JOI's largest rehabilitation facility, San Marco. Prior to working with JOI, he completed athletic training internships with the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars and the USAT National Triathlon Training Center. He has also served as Athletic Trainer for the Jacksonville Barracudas hockey team. As an athletic trainer and avid triathlete, he enjoys working with elite and amateur athletes who have a special interest in endurance sports, including running, cycling and multisport.
He serves as a clinical liaison between JOI Rehab sites and JOI physicians to sustain consistent and exceptional patient care and to ensure that current staff is given educational opportunities to develop and enhance clinical skills.
Sarah Katsaras, MPT, OCS
Graduated from FSU with Bachelor’s of Science in Biology in 1994. Earned Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from University of St. Augustine in 1999. Has been with JOI for 11 years, opened the JOI Spine Center in 2011 and has been coordinating the Spine Club meetings for 6 years. She also earned her OCS certification in 2011.

Kurtis Mullaney, PT, DPT, ATC, LAT

Kurtis was born and raised in Jacksonville and is a graduate of Bishop Kenny High School. Before pursuing a career in rehab, he played baseball for FGCU. He enjoys working with patients who have experienced orthopedic and sports injuries. He has experience working with professional and collegiate baseball, collegiate and high school football, and working in outpatient orthopedics. He has been with JOI since August of 2015.

Jen was born and raised in the Jacksonville beaches area. While studying there she spent many hours volunteering in a hand clinic where she found her passion. Jen has now been with JOI for over a year with a focus in upper extremity treatment. Jen looks forward to many years with the organization.

Matt earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training at the University of North Florida in 2014. While in school at UNF, Matt worked with the UNF Men’s Baseball team, Jacksonville University Football Team, and high school athletes at Nease, Bolles, and Episcopal as a student athletic trainer. After graduating, he attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer for the university’s intramural sports program and Damien Memorial High School. While at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Matt completed his research thesis on concussion assessment of children ages 5 to 12 years old. Matt currently serves at the Durable Medical Equipment Coordinator at San Marco and Riverside.
Justin Oglesby, MHA, ATC, LAT

Justin is a Jacksonville, FL native who attended First Coast High School. Through high school and college he competed in semiprofessional bull riding. He first came to JOI during his rodeo career and now serves as the marketing liaison. While pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training at the University of North Florida, he interned with the Jacksonville University’s football team, University of North Florida Men’s Soccer team, and Bishop Kenny High School. After graduating from the University of North Florida, Justin went on to advance his educational career at the University of Cincinnati where he graduated with Masters of Health Care Administration. At JOI, Justin is heavily involved in promoting JOI via many avenues.
Matt Paulus, MS, ATC, LAT

Matt has been a Certified Athletic Trainer since 1997, and especially enjoys working with post-operative knees and shoulders. He was the Sports Medicine Director (2002-08) the JOI Rehabilitation - San Marco office and Head Athletic Trainer for Bishop Kenny High School from 1999 to 2005. He specializes in throwing and running biomechanics, foot orthotics fabrication, biomechanical analysis (throwing, running), and soft tissue mobilization using the Graston Technique (Level II trained). Currently, Matt is the Site Coordinator of JOI Rehabilitation – San Marco office.
Laran Phelps, LMT
Laran is a native of Amelia Island and Jacksonville but, after spending several years living and exploring the Pacific Northwest in Oregon & California, she recently relocated back to the NE Florida area. Laran is a graduate of Heritage Institute in Jacksonville, FL (2003). Her passion as an LMT is in Medical Massage, Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation. With over a decade of experience, Laran brings a deep understanding of anatomy, physiology and kinesiology into each session. She is currently an active Professional Member of the Florida State Massage Therapy Association (FSMTA) and working towards obtaining her Board Certification from the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) in Massage Therapy, which is the highest elected credential in her field. In her free time, Laran enjoys spending time with her daughters at the beach, swimming, camping, geocaching, or finding an outdoor adventure.

Debbie has worked in several fields of Physiotherapy, and has specialized in orthopaedic outpatient therapy services. She received her post-graduate certification in Mobilization of the Spine and Extremities in 1992. Recently, Debbie became an Orthopedic Certified Specialist. Debbie has been with JOI since 1995.
Meghan Sink, MS, ATC, LAT

While pursuing her Bachelor’s degree at the University of North Florida, she interned at the Providence School of Jacksonville, the Bolles School, Jacksonville University Football and UNF track and Field. She became a Certified Athletic Trainer upon graduation in 2009. She attended graduate school at Mississippi State University. She served as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer with the volleyball team for two years. After completing her Master’s degree, Meghan worked at Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville, MS. Here she was responsible for the care of all the athletes including football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball, tennis, golf and cheerleading.

Jon is a Jacksonville, FL native who attended the Providence School where he also played baseball. Jon was very active in sports growing up. Upon graduating, he began his career path in the Hospitality Industry in which he worked for 13 years. He chose this industry because of his love for people and love for helping and providing a service. After obtaining his A.A. at FCCJ, he moved to Orlando, FL and attended UCF’s Rosen School of Hospitality Management. Upon completing his time at UCF he returned back to Jacksonville, FL and began managing a local restaurant. Several years after beginning his management path in the industry he decided that he wanted to still serve and help people, but in a different way. He returned to school while continuing to work in the industry and for Baptist Health as a PAS representative. Upon completing his studies he began his career with JOI as a Physical Therapist Assistant. In August of 2012, he accepted the position of Spine Centers Coordinator. In March of 2015, he accepted the position of Sports Center Coordinator. He currently treats patients at our Sports Center location full time.

Prior to joining JOI, Katie managed an outpatient clinic working with people with various orthopedic conditions and helping with local high school athletics. She has worked in the outpatient setting since graduating from the University of St. Augustine, where she focused on manual therapeutic techniques and sports medicine. Katie found her passion for physical therapy while playing soccer in high school, club, and collegiately, and still enjoys running, yoga, and Jaguars football. She is interested in pursuing certifications in manual therapy and orthopedic specialist.
Pamela J Wilson OTR/L, CHT

Pam came to JOI following many years of practice In the Boston and Dallas areas. She has extensive experience in traumatic, work and sports related injuries of the upper extremity. A Certified Hand Therapist since 1991 she has been with JOI since 2008.
Dawn has been with JOI since March 2013.
Christoph recently graduated of the University of North Florida with a Bachelors in Health Administration. His relationship with JOI began when he completed his internship in the spring of 2016 in the rehab/marketing department. He accepted the role as a marketing liaison for JOI in July 2016 where he hopes to gain valuable experience within our company.
