JOI Spine Centers
The JOI Spine Center is located at both our San Marco and South Clinics. The Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute has opened two Spine Centers to provide relief for patients experiencing back or neck pain. At these centers, our experienced Spine Therapists work directly with your Spine Surgeons and Physiatrists to coordinate care and offer the best treatment possible for back and neck pain. Our Spine Centers services include medical lasers, medical massages, and dry needling.

Spine Centers Services Include:
Treatment will be given and directed by experienced Spine Therapists, who work directly with JOI’s Spine Surgeons and Physiatrists (PMR – Pain Management and Rehabilitation), to coordinate your care while you undergo treatment at JOI Rehab’s Spine Center. You are our priority!
Medical Laser – $20 per visit, per body part
Our specially-trained clinicians offer state-of-the-art deep-penetrating laser therapy. Treatment is typically given in a series, as it creates a change at the cellular level as damaged cells absorb the light’s energy. These cellular changes in mitochondrial activity and cell permeability can result in quicker healing times and decreased pain. These safe, pain-free, and quick treatments are effective for a wide array of orthopaedic conditions, including arthritis, degenerative disc disease, muscle strains, muscle spasm, sciatic pain, tendonitis and other overuse injuries. (Not typically covered by insurance).

Our licensed Massage Therapists offer medically directed massage services, including those specifically designed to focus on soft tissue, spine-specific, and sports-related injuries. Our dry needling therapists offer appropriate treatment to support traditional physical therapy protocols. This treatment can be adjunct to traditional treatment of orthopaedic conditions, such as chronic neck and lower back pain, arthritis, sciatica, and fibromyalgia.

Renan Abagat, DPT

Renan Abagat has been practicing Physical Therapy since 1991. He has worked in all therapy settings but the bulk of his experience is in outpatient orthopaedics. His special interests include neuromuscular reeducation as an adjunct to manual medicine. Renan works at the JOI Rehab San Marco Physical Therapy Clinic.Patrick Driscoll ATC – Site Coordinator
Patrick Driscoll, Certified Athletic Trainer
Patrick Driscoll received his Bachelors in Athletic Training at Salisbury University, 2016. He went on to obtain his Masters in Athletic Leadership at Clemson University, 2019.
Work Experience
Patrick completed internships with The Baltimore Ravens, Atlanta Braves, and the New Orleans Saints. Prior to him coming to JOI Rehab, he was the first assistant athletic trainer with the football program at Georgia Tech.
He enjoys spending his free time with his wife, Devin as well as his dog Sonny.
Sport and Spine Center
Pat joins the JOI Team as the Site Coordinator for the Sport and Spine Center. This center is located within the JOI San Marco Rehab Center.

Allan Marlon O. Fiesta, PT, DPT, OCS

Allan Fiesta, PT, Site Coordinator
Allan Fiesta graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from the University of the City of Manila (Philippines) in 2000. He obtained his transitional doctorate degree in physical therapy with high honors from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (2017) in St. Augustine, Florida. Further, all has worked in various clinical settings which include long-term care, home health, acute care and outpatient settings.
He has been with JOI since 2013 and started working as the spine physical therapist at the JOI South Clinic – Spine Center since 2014. He is a board-certified orthopedic clinical specialist through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS). Further, he is a current member of the Orthopedic Section of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). Allan Fiesta is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (AAOMPT). Further, his area of interest includes the use of manual therapy techniques in the cervical and lumbar spine. He is currently working towards obtaining his manual therapy certification through the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences.
Sarah Katsaras, MPT, OCS
Physical Therapist
Sarah Katsaras graduated from FSU with Bachelor’s of Science in Biology in 1994. Earned Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from University of St. Augustine in 1999. Sarah continues to work as a physical therapist for several years She opened the JOI Spine Center in 2011 and has been coordinating the Spine Club meetings for 6 years. She also earned her OCS certification in 2011. Sarah currently works at the JOI Rehab South Physical Therapy Clinic.
