Dr. Garry Kitay, Orthopaedic Surgeon

Team Physician Hand Specialist for the Jacksonville Jaguars

Dr. Kitay is a graduate of Brandeis University and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. His residency was completed at the University of Pennsylvania. He also completed a fellowship in adult and pediatric hand surgery, upper extremity reconstruction and microsurgery at the renowned Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center. Dr. Kitay is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand with a Certificate of Added Qualification in hand surgery. Also, he received the Orthopaedic Research Society New Investigator Recognition Award and the Zimmer Annual Travel Award.

Since coming to Jacksonville, Dr. Kitay has published several articles and completed research on the treatment of arthritis. He has also served as President of the Northeast Florida Orthopaedic Society.

Hand & Upper Extremity Specialist

As a hand and upper extremity specialist, Dr. Kitay treats all disorders of the hand, elbow, and shoulder in patients of all ages. When surgery is necessary, minimally invasive techniques are utilized whenever possible, in order to bring about the quickest and safest recovery for each patient. These techniques include endoscopic carpal tunnel release, needle aponeurotomy for Dupuytren’s contracture and percutaneous release for trigger fingers. Other surgical procedures commonly performed include arthroscopic surgery, joint replacement, and microsurgery.  Dr. Kitay has certainly reached the highest level of achievement in this discipline.

Dr. Kitay has been a member of JOI since 1996. He and his wife enjoyed raising three children in Jacksonville. In addition to his medical career and family activities, he enjoys water sports, reading, and exercising.
