High Ankle Sprain

Watch this VIDEO to learn about HIGH ANKLE SPRAIN for Dr. Hiram Carrasquillo.  Dr. Carrasquillo is an orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeon at the JOI San Marco location.  He is currently accepting new patients.

This type of sprain is located with the ligaments above the ankle joint. These ligaments help to stabilize the entire area, and connect the ankle joint to the Tibia and Fibula. The tib/fib ligaments can be injured with a regular ankle sprain or they can be injured independently.  It is much less common than the similar injury of spraining the lower ankle. These injuries are usually a result of twisting or over rotating the ankle.
