A torn Achilles Tendon is an injury that can result from a weakened state, and can be a partial or full tear (most common). Furthermore, typical mechanism of injury includes a sudden change of direction, requiring a push off, or landing from a jump. In this condition, the ankle is goes into dorsiflexion, resulting in high-tensile forces and tendon failing.
Often, this injury occurs in sports like Tennis, Soccer or Football. The athlete feels a sudden sharp pain in their lower leg. They often describe it feels like they have been shot in the calf area of the leg.
