Joan worked at Baptist Medical Center in the Health/Wellness/Cardiac Rehab department for nine years. After receiving a second PT degree, she enjoys working in inpatient/outpatient hospital settings, home health, skilled nursing facilities, and outpatient Sports Medicine physical therapy. She is trained in the Graston Technique, Electric Therapy Point System (ETPS), McConnell Taping, Body Balance for Performance Golf Program, and personal fitness programs. Formally with the Aspen Colorado Hospital Physical Therapy Department, Joan joined JOI Beaches Rehab in 2005, and is currently the Senior Physical Therapist.

Johnny is an Occupational Therapist with more than 12 years of experience. While at Samford University, he played football. Since finishing school, he has worked in a variety of settings. While in the outpatient setting, Johnny found a love for hand therapy and pursued his hand certification. Currently, he works as a CHT, where he focuses on upper extremity rehabilitation.

She is the team Trainer and PT for the Roar of the Jaguars Professional Cheerleading Squad. In addition to her work in the clinic, she is also certified in Yoga, Pilates and Zumba. She teaches group fitness classes at several local gyms.

For the past seven years Sonya has worked in outpatient orthopaedic rehabilitation and has been with JOI Rehab since the first clinic opened in 2003. She is actively involved in the JOI Sports Medicine Program where she serves as assistant sports medicine director and helps with sports medicine coverage at the high school and collegiate level. Sonya also works closely with the Jacksonville Juniors Volleyball Association (JJVA), helping to provide sports medicine coverage for all of their home tournaments.

Pete is a Doctor of Physical Therapy as well as a Certified Athletic Trainer. Pete Served as a Graduate Assistant at Penn State University and was the head athletic trainer for the Men’s and Women’s track and field, cross country, tennis, and cheerleading teams while studying Kinesiology. He worked with the Kansas City Royals in Fort Meyers before coming to Jacksonville, FL in 1993. Pete has worked as an Athletic Trainer in both outreach and clinical settings for more than 16 years. He was worked with the Jacksonville Jaguars, The ROAR, several local high schools including First Coast, West Nassau, Bishop Kenny, and Wolfson and FCCJ. He has also worked at the 1996 Olympics and the Pennsylvania Special Olympics as an athletic trainer. He treats many orthopaedic conditions and specializes in foot and ankle, running and throwing mechanics, as well as casting for custom orthotics. Pete joined JOI in 2008. Pete obtained his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of St Augustine in 2010.

Matt has been a Certified Athletic Trainer since 1997, and especially enjoys working with post-operative knees and shoulders. He was the Sports Medicine Director (2002-08) the JOI Rehabilitation - San Marco office and Head Athletic Trainer for Bishop Kenny High School from 1999 to 2005. He specializes in throwing and running biomechanics, foot orthotics fabrication, biomechanical analysis (throwing, running), and soft tissue mobilization using the Graston Technique (Level II trained). Currently, Matt is the Site Coordinator of JOI Rehabilitation – North.

Before coming to Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute, Amanda worked with various teams at E.C.U. and with the Wolfpack Football team for two years at N.C.S.U. She has also worked summer camps for the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte, NC. Amanda joined the JOI Staff in June 2010. Currently, she is the Athletic Trainer for Bishop J. Snyder High School.

Renan has been practicing Physical Therapy since 1991.  He has worked in all therapy settings but the bulk of his experience is in outpatient orthopaedics.  His special interests include neuromuscular reeducation as an adjunct to manual medicine.

Bryan has been a certified athletic trainer since 2004.  Bryan received his bachelors of science in health from the University of North Florida in 2004, and a Masters of Science in Kinesiology and Sports Medicine from Indiana University in 2006.  Bryan came to JOI in July of 2006.  He provides athletic training services to Bishop Kenny High School.  He has been a part of two Cross Country State Championship teams and has seen Bishop Kenny through numerous post season travels.  He currently serves as Sports Medicine Director alongside Michelle Duclos.

Michelle gained valuable experience at UF by working with the volleyball and football teams. She later interned at the University of South Florida and worked with the football team, which was invited to the Meineke Car Care Bowl, the first bowl game in USF history. While at USF, she worked mainly with the Women’s volleyball team, and helped to cover the NCAA Women’s Final Four in 2008 and the NCAA Men’s First and Second Rounds hosted in Tampa. She also helped host the Big East Tennis and Baseball Tournaments in 2008. She came to JOI in 2008, and is presently the athletic trainer for events and practices at Florida State College at Jacksonville. Michelle also serves as Sports Medicine Director alongside Bryan Anderson.

Andy joined JOI Rehabilitation in June 2006.  Prior to graduating from physical therapy school, Andy provided athletic training coverage at The Bolles School.  He also served as Sports Medicine Director for JOI Rehabilitation and oversaw all outreach contracts and the athletic training staff.  Prior to joining JOI, Andy worked for two years each with the football programs at The University of Connecticut and The University of Michigan.

Julia is an Occupational Therapist and Certified Hand Therapist with over 20 years of experience treating upper extremity orthopaedic diagnoses. She obtained her Certification in Hand Therapy in 1992, after specializing in the field for many years. Julia has extensive experience in custom splinting and direct patient care. Julia has been the Hand Therapy Coordinator for JOI Rehabilitation for the past four years.

Drew has been with JOI Rehabilitation staff more than six years. He joined the rehabilitation team in 2004, and in 2009 became Site Coordinator of JOI's largest rehabilitation facility, San Marco.  Prior to working with JOI, he completed athletic training internships with the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars and the USAT National Triathlon Training Center. He has also served as Athletic Trainer for the Jacksonville Barracudas hockey team.  As an athletic trainer and avid triathlete, he enjoys working with elite and amateur athletes who have a special interest in endurance sports, including running, cycling and multisport.

Luke Willson is the Head Athletic Trainer for The Bolles School. Luke was the Head Athletic Trainer for the newly crowned AFL World Champion Jacksonville Sharks in 2011. Upon achieving his bachelor's degree at Weber State University in Utah, he attained his Certification as an Athletic Trainer. He then went on to achieve his master's degree from East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania while also attaining his Certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist. His path then led him to the NFL where he served as an Intern with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Diana has worked closely with the JOI hand surgeons since 1995. She has been a Certified Hand Therapist since 2000. She has 19 years of experience in orthopaedics and has held various leadership roles, such as supervisor and Team Leader for the rehabilitation department. Diana is fluent in Spanish which has been very beneficial in communicating with some of her patients.
