Steve Borkowski, PT, MPT

At the University of Florida he had the opportunity to assist with treatment of Division I collegiate athletes in a variety of sports and professional athletes in the National Football League (NFL).  He has been a physical therapist for the touring companies of the Broadway shows Wicked and Shrek the Musical.  He also served as a physical therapist for the Atlanta Falcons (NFL) and Georgia Force (AFL) cheerleading squads.  Steve has treated Ironman and ITU World Championship triathletes, and has been a member of high school sports medicine teams.  Steve joined JOI in 2014 and brings his interest in manual therapy and sports medicine to our clinic.

Matt Fehniger, PT, MS

For more than 11 years Matt has worked in a variety of settings, including acute care, inpatient and skilled rehabilitation, and for the past six years he has focused on outpatient orthopaedics. Matt has been with JOI Rehabilitation for more than four years.

Joan worked at Baptist Medical Center in the Health/Wellness/Cardiac Rehab department for nine years. After receiving a second PT degree, she enjoys working in inpatient/outpatient hospital settings, home health, skilled nursing facilities, and outpatient Sports Medicine physical therapy. She is trained in the Graston Technique, Electric Therapy Point System (ETPS), McConnell Taping, Body Balance for Performance Golf Program, and personal fitness programs. Formally with the Aspen Colorado Hospital Physical Therapy Department, Joan joined JOI Beaches Rehab in 2005, and is currently the Senior Physical Therapist.

 

Andrew Orpiano, ATC, LAT

Andrew earned an Athletic Training degree from the University of North Florida in 2012. While at UNF, Andrew worked with Bishop Kenny High School, Episcopal School of Jacksonville, Bartram Trail High School, and UNF Track & Field. After graduating from UNF, Andrew worked as an Athletic Trainer with the Providence School of Jacksonville football team. In November 2012, Andrew joined JOI and is currently the Head Athletic Trainer for Providence School of Jacksonville providing athletic training services to student-athletes.

Cristian is currently practices Occupational Therapist and Physical Therapist at the JOI Fleming Island Rehabilitation Clinic. He is also a Certified Hand Therapist. Cristian treats all types of orthopedic conditions including joint replacements, sports injuries, spine and specializes in the treatment of the upper extremity. Cristian also works as an instructor at the University of St. Augustine where he teaches both Occupational and Physical therapy Students. Currently, He is the Site Coordinator of The Fleming Island Rehabilitation Location. Cristian is an avid paddle boarder and loves spending time with his family.

Lisa received her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Duquesne University (Pittsburgh, PA) in 2007. She continued on to earn a Masters degree in Exercise Science while working as a Graduate Intern at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, where she was the Athletic Trainer for the Men’s Football, Wrestling, and Women’s Softball teams. After moving to Florida, Lisa worked as the Head Athletic Trainer at Flagler Palm Coast High School in Palm Coast, FL. Lisa joined JOI in July of 2012, and is currently the Head Athletic Trainer at Bishop J. Snyder High School, providing medical coverage for all Cardinal student-athletes.

She has a passion for sports and orthopedic injuries.  She is currently working towards her manual therapy certification and hopes to sit for her Orthopedic Specialist Boards in the near future.

Eduardo L. Mesina, PT

Prior to joining JOI rehab, Eduardo worked at the Center for Physical Therapy for more than 20 years as lead Physical Therapist.  He has certifications in Kesiotaping, the Graston technique and the FCE /work hardening program with isokinetics.  When not working, his interests include basketball, volleyball, snowboarding and tennis.

Johnny is an Occupational Therapist with more than 12 years of experience. While at Samford University, he played football. Since finishing school, he has worked in a variety of settings. While in the outpatient setting, Johnny found a love for hand therapy and pursued his hand certification. Currently, he works as a CHT, where he focuses on upper extremity rehabilitation.

Belinda has been a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) since 1998, and a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) since 1996. She is the team Trainer and PT for the Roar of the Jaguars Professional Cheerleading Squad. In addition to her work in the clinic, she is also certified in Yoga, Pilates and Zumba. She teaches group fitness classes at several local gyms.

For the past seven years Sonya has worked in outpatient orthopaedic rehabilitation and has been with JOI Rehab since the first clinic opened in 2003. She is actively involved in the JOI Sports Medicine Program where she serves as assistant sports medicine director and helps with sports medicine coverage at the high school and collegiate level. Sonya also works closely with the Jacksonville Juniors Volleyball Association (JJVA), helping to provide sports medicine coverage for all of their home tournaments.

Matt has been a Certified Athletic Trainer since 1997, and especially enjoys working with post-operative knees and shoulders. He was the Sports Medicine Director (2002-08) the JOI Rehabilitation - San Marco office and Head Athletic Trainer for Bishop Kenny High School from 1999 to 2005. He specializes in throwing and running biomechanics, foot orthotics fabrication, biomechanical analysis (throwing, running), and soft tissue mobilization using the Graston Technique (Level II trained). Currently, Matt is the Site Coordinator of JOI Rehabilitation – North and Riverside/Westside.

Theresa initially came to JOI as a DME Coordinator at the Beaches location.  She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from the University of North Florida in 2010.  While at UNF, she interned with UNF Women’s Soccer, Jacksonville University Football, Fletcher High School, and JOI Rehabilitation.  Upon graduation, Theresa worked as an athletic trainer and a biology teacher at University High School in Orange City, FL.  In August of 2011, Theresa became the Head Athletic Trainer at Episcopal High School, providing medical coverage to all of their athletes. 

 

Ehren Allen, PT, COMT

Ehren Allen performed his undergraduate training in Music at the Florida State University.  He went on to complete his professional training in Physical Therapy at Florida A&M University.  He practiced in many specialty areas since 2000, including neurology, pediatrics, and private practice before deciding to specialize in orthopedics and sports medicine.  He completed his certification as an Orthopedic Manual Therapist in 2007 through the Maitland Australian Physiotherapy Group and currently incorporates manual therapy into the treatment of various orthopedic conditions and injuries.

Bryan has been a certified athletic trainer since 2004.  Bryan received his bachelors of science in health from the University of North Florida in 2004, and a Masters of Science in Kinesiology and Sports Medicine from Indiana University in 2006.  Bryan came to JOI in July of 2006.  He provides athletic training services to Bishop Kenny High School.  He has been a part of two Cross Country State Championship teams and has seen Bishop Kenny through numerous post season travels.  He currently serves as Sports Medicine Director alongside Michelle Duclos.

Prior to joining JOI, Heidi worked for an orthopaedic based clinic in New Orleans and also had the opportunity to work with MLB umpires returning to play. Heidi is a certified Active Release Provider and a former collegiate runner. As an avid triathlete, Heidi enjoys working with athletes of all types but specializes in analyzing biomechanics for multisport athletes.  

 

Camden Beckmann

Camden Beckmann was born and raised here in Jacksonville, Florida.  She graduated from the University of North Florida in 1997.  Camden spent almost 10 years in the medical marketing field, and resigned as the Marketing Director of Altec Diagnostic Imaging after deciding to move to the Keys with her husband and daughter.  Upon returning to Jacksonville and after teaching for a few years, she was offered the opportunity to return to the career she loved.  Camden has been marketing for JOI and JOI Rehabilitation since July 2013.

Doug Duggan, LMT, NMT

Doug, his wife Hope, and his 5 children are natives of the North Florida area and currently reside in Fernandina Beach, FL. Doug has always had a passion to become a massage therapist. In 2007, Doug  completed his coursework at The Southeastern School of Neuromuscular Massage, with an emphasis on Anatomy and Neuromuscular Bodywork. Doug went on to get his Neuromuscular Certification at Advanced Bodywork Modalities with an emphasis on postural and structural bodywork. Doug enjoys being able to use his gift to relieve pain, reduce stress, restore range of motion, and help aide each patient's physical well being. Doug is ecstatic to be a part of the JOI team and looks forward to helping each patient get better!

Michelle gained valuable experience at UF by working with the volleyball and football teams. She later interned at the University of South Florida and worked with the football team, which was invited to the Meineke Car Care Bowl, the first bowl game in USF history. While at USF, she worked mainly with the Women’s volleyball team, and helped to cover the NCAA Women’s Final Four in 2008 and the NCAA Men’s First and Second Rounds hosted in Tampa. She also helped host the Big East Tennis and Baseball Tournaments in 2008. She came to JOI in 2008, and is presently the athletic trainer for events and practices at Florida State College at Jacksonville. Michelle also serves as Sports Medicine Director alongside Bryan Anderson.

Nicole received her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from University of South Florida in 2008. She continued on to earn a Masters degree in Exercise Science  while working as a Graduate Assistant at Florida Atlantic University, where she was the Athletic Trainer for the Men’s Soccer, Baseball, and Women’s Volleyball teams. After graduate school Nicole did an internship at University of Tampa with the Men’s Basketball team. Nicole joined JOI in June of 2012, and is currently the Athletic Trainer at Atlantic Coast High School, providing medical coverage for all Stingray student-athletes. Andy joined JOI Rehabilitation in June 2006.  Prior to graduating from physical therapy school, Andy provided athletic training coverage at The Bolles School.  He also served as Sports Medicine Director for JOI Rehabilitation and oversaw all outreach contracts and the athletic training staff.  Prior to joining JOI, Andy worked for two years each with the football programs at The University of Connecticut and The University of Michigan.

Julia is an Occupational Therapist and Certified Hand Therapist with over 20 years of experience treating upper extremity orthopaedic diagnoses. She obtained her Certification in Hand Therapy in 1992, after specializing in the field for many years. Julia has extensive experience in custom splinting and direct patient care. Julia has been the Hand Therapy Coordinator for JOI Rehabilitation for the past four years.

Andrew “Drew” Heideman, MPT, ATC, PES

Drew has been with JOI Rehabilitation staff more than six years. He joined the rehabilitation team in 2004, and in 2009 became Site Coordinator of JOI's largest rehabilitation facility, San Marco.  Prior to working with JOI, he completed athletic training internships with the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars and the USAT National Triathlon Training Center. He has also served as Athletic Trainer for the Jacksonville Barracudas hockey team.  As an athletic trainer and avid triathlete, he enjoys working with elite and amateur athletes who have a special interest in endurance sports, including running, cycling and multisport. 

He serves as a clinical liaison between JOI Rehab sites and JOI physicians to sustain consistent and exceptional patient care and to ensure that current staff is given educational opportunities to develop and enhance clinical skills.

She received her post-graduate certification in Mobilization of the Spine and Extremities in 1992. Recently, Debbie became an Orthopedic Certified Specialist. Debbie has been with JOI since 1995.

Meghan comes to JOI Rehabilitation with a wide range of experience. While pursuing her Bachelor’s degree at the University of North Florida, she interned at the Providence School of Jacksonville, the Bolles School, Jacksonville University Football and UNF track and Field.  She became a Certified Athletic Trainer upon graduation in 2009.  She attended graduate school at Mississippi State University to gain valuable experience and expand her knowledge base. She served as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer with the volleyball team for two years.  After completing her Master’s degree, Meghan worked at Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville, MS.  Here she was responsible for the care of all the athletes including football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball, tennis, golf and cheerleading.

Diana V. Cratem, OT, CHT
Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy (Our Lady of the Rosary University, 1990)

Diana has worked closely with the JOI hand surgeons since 1995. She has been a Certified Hand Therapist since 2000. She has 24 years of experience in orthopaedics and has held various leadership roles, such as supervisor and Team Leader for the rehabilitation department. Diana is fluent in Spanish which has been very beneficial in communicating with some of her patients.

For the past 15 years Chad has worked in outpatient orthopaedics, and has been with JOI Rehab since the first clinic opened in 2003.

Westside

Matt Paulus

Matt Paulus, MS, ATC, LAT

Master’s degree in Kinesiology-Athletic Training (Indiana University,1998)

Matt has been a Certified Athletic Trainer since 1997, and especially enjoys working with post-operative knees and shoulders. He was the Sports Medicine Director (2002-08) the JOI Rehabilitation - San Marco office and Head Athletic Trainer for Bishop Kenny High School from 1999 to 2005. He specializes in throwing and running biomechanics, foot orthotics fabrication, biomechanical analysis (throwing, running), and soft tissue mobilization using the Graston Technique (Level II trained). Currently, Matt is the Site Coordinator of JOI Rehabilitation – North and Riverside/Westside. (Matt only treats patients at the North location)

Lindsay Fleetwood, PT DPT

Lindsay is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, and is currently working towards an Orthopedic Manual Therapy Certification with the Florida Institute of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (FIOMPT).

Chris has worked in numerous clinical settings, with over 20 years of experience working with upper extremity rehab in outpatient orthopaedics settings. She has been with JOI since 2009.

Robert is certified with the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Performance Enhancement Specialist (NASM-PES), and has had training in the Graston Technique.

Before coming to Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute, Tracy worked with teams at UAB and North Georgia College. Tracy has been with JOI since July 2010. She provides athletic training services for Eagles View Academy.
